Community Involvement

• Selig are, together with 9 Lower Hutt businesses, the major business partner sponsors of "The New Dowse" New Zealands most innovative Art Gallery here in Lower Hutt.
• Both directors of Seligs are members of 2 separate Hutt Valley Rotary Clubs and they and the clerical staff at Selig have been involved in many Rotary projects. Director, Lorraine Girvan, is a 'Paul Harris Fellow', which is Rotary's highest award for community service. One ongoing project includes co-ordinating 40 volunteer reading tutors in Epuni, Rata Street and Pomare Schools. We are also supporters of the Duffy books in schools scheme.
• Lorraine and the clerical staff produced the first "live on line" Rotary District Governers Newsletter at the company's cost. The directors and clerical staff co-ordinated and sponsored the Hutt Valley Pride of Workmanship Scheme in 2003, 2005 and 2007 through Hutt Valley Rotary.
• The directors and clerical staff co-ordinated and sponsored the Hutt Valley Plunket annual appeal 4 years in a row.
• Directors and salespeople and their families have helped to organise a fundraising trail bike ride in conjunction with Hutt Valley Rotary which raised $1500 for Hutt Valley Plunket - this initiative is being directly lead by Selig Real Estate for Lower Hutt Plunket.
• Staff and Directors sponsor Child Safety Awareness Programmes in Petone, Hutt Central, Korokoro, Belmont, Dyer Street, Boulcott and Waterloo Schools.
• We sponsor the Taita and Woburn Bowling Club's annual Tournament.
• We have sponsored many individual Secondary School students raising funds for sports and cultural trips.
• Selig raised the highest amount of any Real Estate Company for the Petone Rotary Real Estate Fundraising week for Te Omanga Hospice for 2006.
• Selig have collected for Te Omanga Hospice Street day appeal for the past 5 years.
